Long Beach City College

The Student Equity Speaker Series and the English 105AX Team invite you to hear Alicia Cass, founder of the Metamorphosis Experience, share her story of transformation from being in the foster care system, a high school dropout, homeless teenage mother, and gang member, to Long Beach City College student, USC graduate, and author of Metamorphosis: The Butterfly Experience. She will speak about how she is using that experience to help women, girls, and youth who are at risk of exposure to violence-related trauma stemming from gangs, sexual assault, physical abuse, and domestic violence.

Learn how Alicia started at LBCC in English 105 and is now a Ph.D. candidate at USC. During her educational journey and career as a social worker, she has discovered the power of writing to understand herself, her family, and her community.

Copies of the Metamorphosis: The Butterfly Experience will be available for purchase and signing directly following the talk.

Space is limited, so please RSVP to reserve your seat on
Eventbrite at STUDENT EQUITY SPEAKER SERIES: Alicia Cass.
This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community of Long Beach.
